Dominic Chambers QC and Benjamin John win Brexit Article 50 Case in the Supreme Court

Dominic Chambers QC and Benjamin John act for successful Respondent in the Supreme Court Judgment handed down today.

The Supreme Court has given judgment in favour of the Respondents in the landmark Brexit Article 50 litigation. Dominic Chambers QC and Benjamin John, instructed by David Greene, Senior Partner and Head of Group Action Litigation at Edwin Coe LLP, represented one of the two Respondents before an unprecedented bench of all 11 Justices of the Supreme Court sitting ‘en banc’. They won judgment before the Divisional Court in November and have now successfully resisted the government’s appeal to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has held that the Government cannot trigger Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon without the prior authorisation of Parliament by primary legislation.
