Robert is one of our Senior Clerks. He joined Maitland in 2004, became Deputy Senior Clerk in 2013 and was elevated to Senior Clerk in 2024 together with Luke Irons. Robert is responsible for the development of the barristers’ practices, fee negotiation and building and maintaining client relationships, working closely with John Wiggs, Director of Clerking and Luke Irons, Senior Clerk.
Robert assists in leading the clerking team and ensures the effective running of a modern Chambers. Additionally, Robert is heavily involved with the marketing and promotion of chambers both domestically and internationally. This includes regular visits to offshore jurisdictions.
Robert began his career as a barristers’ clerk in 1998 at 9 Old Square, merging with Maitland Chambers in 2004.
Outside of Chambers, Robert enjoys spending time with his family, keeping himself fit and has a real passion for clay pigeon shooting
