Luke Irons

Deputy Senior Clerk

Luke is one of the Joint Deputy Senior Clerks. He joined Maitland Chambers in July 2019. As deputy to John Wiggs, Luke assists in leading the clerking team, focusing on the development of the barristers’ practices, fee negotiation and building and maintaining client relationships.

He has been a barristers' clerk since 1996. Prior to joining Maitland Chambers Luke spent just over 18 and a half years at Stone Chambers (now part of The 36 Group) and before then had junior clerk positions in two Lincoln's Inn sets.

He completed his Certificate in Management (2010/11) and completed an Executive MBA with Merit at Oxford Brookes University graduating in 2014.

Up until 2022 he was an active member of the Institute of Barristers’ Clerks (IBC), focusing on Education and International Developments and was the IBC representative on the Bar Council International Committee.

When he is not working, he manages his son’s football team which fills the void left on his weekends since being forced to retire from his playing days in 2022.  He also enjoys the occasional walk around a golf course, travelling to new and old places around the world, and has a passion for spending time in the mountains skiing.
