Kendya Goodman

Kendya has a commercial practice which encompasses a broad range of company, insolvency, and civil fraud work, alongside a developing specialism in charity law. She has gained experience across the full breadth of Chambers’ specialisms. Her strategic and commercial analysis is a core strength, as is her confident advocacy and natural ability to put clients at ease.

Kendya frequently appears unled in the High Court - including against leading counsel - but is equally comfortable operating as part of a larger counsel team. Her notable reported decisions include:

• Little and another v Olympian Homes Ltd [2024] EWHC 1766 (Ch), in which she successfully acted as sole counsel in setting aside statutory demands on the ground of waiver by estoppel (a decision now cited in Chitty on Contracts);
• Braunford LLP and another v Allain [2025] EWHC 2545 (Ch), an expedited trade secrets claim in which she appeared unled against two King’s Counsel; and
• Infinni Innovations S.A. v OFMS Limited and others [2026] EWHC 470 (Comm), an interim injunction application in the Commercial Court, where she was led by Arnold Ayoo.

Her growing expertise in charity law complements, and draws on, her broader commercial practice. She regularly acts for charities litigating in both the First-tier Tribunal (Charity) and the High Court. She is equally adept on the advisory side, providing guidance to distressed charities contemplating mergers and restructures, as well as to trustees managing disputes with complex sociopolitical elements. Kendya is ranked as a Rising Star for Charities in The Legal 500 UK Bar 2027, and serves as a junior representative director on the executive committee of the Charity Law Association.

Before coming to the Bar, Kendya received a first-class degree in History & Politics from New College, Oxford, where she also served as President of the Junior Common Room in 2018–19. She completed her Graduate Diploma in Law and Bar Vocational Studies at City University as the Pump Court Tax Chambers scholar, before completing pupillage at Maitland Chambers in September 2023.
