Maitland Chambers Members Represent Both Sides of Sex Pistols Dispute

Media & Entertainment

16 July 2021

One of the largest entertainment cases has begun in the High Court today with both sides being represented by members of Maitland Chambers. The case concerns a dispute between two former Sex Pistols band members and frontman Johnny Rotten (real name John Lydon) over the use of their songs in a television series which is due to air next year.

Edmund Cullen QC is leading Edward Granger (both of Maitland Chambers) and are representing Mr Jones and Mr Cook who are bringing legal action against the former lead singer, Mr Lydon, so that songs from the punk band’s back catalogue can be used in the television series. Mr Lydon is represented by Mark Cunningham QC who is leading Amanda Michaels of Hogarth Chambers.
