Rural Land Use

  • Commons
  • Village Greens
  • Riparian Rights, and
  • Foreshore.

We recognise that these areas can often have strategic roles in facilitating or impeding development. Registration of rights of common or village greens are valuable tools for a community opposing an unpopular development plan which has gained planning approval, but conversely can be abused in seeking to extract  ‘ransom’ payments.

The foreshore and its relationship with the potential for development, statutory rights to extract minerals and registration of title are also matters upon which our barristers have considerable experience.
