New tenant for Maitland Chambers
Maitland Chambers is pleased to announce that
James Hanham has joined Chambers, strengthening further the set’s highly regarded property capability.
James, who was called to the Bar in 1996, specialises in all aspects of property litigation, with expertise in landlord and tenant, real property, and commercial disputes in the property sector. He is also experienced in property-related insolvency cases as well as professional negligence claims arising out of property work by surveyors and solicitors. Recent work includes being instructed in the preliminary stages of the Sportelli enfranchisement litigation, appearing in the Court of Appeal for Abbey National PLC in relation to the validity of a possession order, and participating in a mediation for a large US health insurer in Toronto.
Catherine Newman QC appointed a Deputy High Court Judge
The members and staff of Maitland Chambers would like to congratulate
Catherine Newman QC on the recent news that she is now authorised to sit as a
Deputy Judge of the High Court in the Queen's Bench Division.
Head of Chambers
Maitland Chambers announces that Michael Driscoll QC, who became joint Head
of Maitland Chambers on its merger with his former set 9 Old Square in 2004,
will continue as sole Head of Chambers with immediate effect. Joint head Michael
Lyndon-Stanford QC steps down from the role having announced his intention to
retire from practice this year.
