Michael’s practice encompasses all aspects of Chancery litigation, but the areas of specialisation for which he is particularly known are commercial and residential landlord and tenant (including leasehold enfranchisement), professional negligence (solicitors and property/finance related professionals), property litigation (including conveyancing, mortgages, easements, and restrictive covenants), trusts, insolvency, and commercial contracts. He is also known for non-litigious advisory work in landlord and tenant and real property.

He has for many years been noted as a leading junior counsel in Property Litigation or Professional Negligence by both Legal 500 and the Chambers UK Directory and is noted for Property/Real Estate Litigation in the 2005 editions.

His cases include: Slamon v Planchon (collectiveenfranchisement, whether resident landlord exception applies); First Penthouse v Channel Hotels and Properties (ChD) and in the Court of Appeal as Channel Hotels and Properties v Tamimi (forfeiture forunlawful alienation, unreasonable refusal of consent, waiver); Aylesford v Al-Habtoor (estate agency, sole agency commission); Aubergine Enterprise v Lakewood International (whether consent to assign given in landlord's letter headed "subject to licence"); Edwin Shirley Productions Ltd v Workspace (no estoppel in the course of without prejudice negogtiations)and Nationwide v Balmer Radmore (managed litigation, negligence of conveyancing solicitors).
