Profile
Thomas practices across a broad range of chancery and commercial law. His experience is concentrated in the following areas:
- Contract, bailment and general commercial disputes
- Corporate insolvency and bankruptcy
- Property law and landlord and tenant disputes
- Company law (both contentious and non-contentious) and partnership issues
- Fraud, tracing and freezing orders
- Professional negligence
- Trusts and probate
- Jurisdiction/conflict of laws issues
Thomas appears as advocate in the High Court, the County Courts and the specialist property/landlord and tenant tribunals. He is equally happy to be instructed on his own or to work as part of a team.
Before being called to the Bar, Thomas read Classics at Balliol College, Oxford, where he took a double first and various academic prizes. He took the CPE at City University, where he won the Tort Law Prize, and then the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law, where he was classed as Outstanding and won a Van Der Heyden Prize and the OUP Advocacy and Procedure Prize. He was awarded the Princess Royal Scholarship and then the Stephen Chapman Scholarship by the Inner Temple.
